Specialty Certificate Programs for Continuing Education
Specialty Certificate Programs are designed for those students who would like more in-depth training in a specialty area. Each Specialty Certificate Program has a set of requirements and the cost of each Specialty Program is based on the number of hours of the program.
All SCHYS programs train our teachers to be Trauma Informed, have training in Western/allopathic anatomy and medical terminology, and to use All-Inclusive Language.

Applications must include a non-refundable $40 application fee payable within two-weeks of submission of your application. Email jj@schys.yoga for more information. Students or graduates of SCHYS’s Yoga Therapy Training Program, need only to let JJ Gormley know your intention (via text or email) and do not need to complete an application.

In addition, there is a $40 application fee paid before enrollment, and a $75 graduation fee (paid after all requirements have been met).

Pre-requisite: C-IAYT

This course provides 16 Approved Professional Development credit hours for the IAYT toward renewal of your C-IAYT.
This course is eight hours of prerecorded video classes which include discussion on the immune, endocrine, and lymphatic systems and many other systems as related to common auto-immune issues. Discussed are the pathogenesis of these common auto-immune diseases: Epstein-Barr Virus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren’s and more. Plus eight hours of prerecorded video classes of Case Studies. You are required to present two cases to JJ Gormley of clients that you worked with where you used yoga therapy for an auto-immune issue.
As lead faculty, JJ Gormley will guide students in how to safely design, and teach a class practice for clients with auto-immune issues. She will teach anatomy & physiology of many of these ailments/diseases, including the pathogenesis. We will also look at current research using yoga as the intervention, healing suggestions, and case studies of clients with these issues.

This course is ten hours of prerecorded videos which include discussion in anatomy and physiology, how to safely and effectively plan and design a class practice, the current research using yoga as the intervention, and healing suggestions for using yoga for clients with scoliosis, sciatica, or sacro-illiac issues. Plus eight hours of prerecorded video classes of Case Studies. You are required to present two cases to JJ Gormley of clients that you worked with where you used yoga therapy for one or more of these issues.

This course is 16-hours of prerecorded videos which include include discussion in substance abuse and addiction (SAA) issues from childhood trauma, alcoholism, addictive behavior, Substance Use Disorder (SUD), in recovery from addiction, eating disorders, anxiety &/or depression related to substance abuse, and much more. Plus eight hours of prerecorded video classes of Case Studies. You are required to present two cases to JJ Gormley of clients that you worked with where you used yoga therapy for a substance abuse or addiction issue.
As lead faculty, JJ Gormley will guide students in how to safely design, and teach a class practice for someone working on recovery from substance abuse and addiction, the anatomy and physiology of stress, learned coping mechanisms, mental issues from childhood trauma and more, the pathogenesis of SAA issues, current research using yoga as the intervention for SAA, healing suggestions for using yoga for recovery from SAA, case studies of clients with addictions or in recovery from substance abuse. We will also look at current research using yoga as the intervention, healing suggestions, and case studies of clients with these issues.
