SCHYS Application & Admissions Process
All SCHYS programs train our teachers to be:
Trauma Informed and to use All-Inclusive Language
Have knowledge in Western/allopathic anatomy and medical terminology appropriate for the level and subject matter of the program.
Accessible to All, including knowledgable and adaptable for diverse clientele including: beginners, seniors, pre- and post-natal students, and those with special needs such as physical, emotional, sensory, cognitive, and/or intellectual impairments.
entrance requirements
All applicants must be 18 years or older, and must be fluent in verbal and written English - insufficient English skills may prohibit successful completion of the program. Students should have access to a computer for completion of online courses and have basic computer skills. We require all of our students to have a strong commitment to personal growth and self-awareness. For particular programs there may be additional pre-requisites, please see the information for the program for which you are interested.
application and admissions process
Prospective students may submit the application form below for any SCHYSc program for which they wish to enroll (see below) or email Barb Pishock, Director of Admissions: barb@schys.yoga for an application. The application process begins approximately six months prior to the start date of a program and late applications are permissible if space permits (make-up hours may be necessary).
Apply: Application and a non-refundable application fee is required for each program. Applications may be sent using the form below or via an attachment in an email to Barb Pishock, Director of Admissions barb@schys.yoga Your application fee must be submitted within 2-weeks of submitting your application. This can be paid online (credit card or PayPal) or sent via check to SCHYS, 308 Plott Hound Ln, Wake Forest, NC 27587. Please note: SCHYS does not accept transfer credits from other training programs. All programs require four references: two personal and two yoga references. We require the name and email of these four references with your application. Alternatively you may request your references contact us directly: send reference to barb@schys.yoga. Applicants may be contacted for an interview as we like to get to know our students as much as possible to ensure SCHYS is a good fit for this endeavor.

300-hr Advanced Yoga Teacher Training/Step 1. Pre-Requisite: 200-Hour RYT, one year of yoga practice, and at least 40-hours teaching experience. SCHYS does not accept transfer hours.
Yoga Therapy Certificate Program, the first step is to complete Step 1 above (300-Hr Advanced Training). SCHYS does not accept transfer credit from other programs.
Specialty Certificate Program (ANY) - For each Specialty Certificate there are prerequisites, please see the individual Specialty Certificate for the requirements.
SCHYS Processes: SCHYS administration processes all applications within 30-days after receipt of both the application and the fee. Faculty may contact you for an interview, where we can answer any questions you may have. While SCHYS is processing your application and checking your references, you may select your tuition option on the Enrollment & Tuition Payment Agreement. Accepted students are notified via email.
Enroll: To finalize the admission process, students return the Admittance documentation, make their Initial Deposit, and begin making their Tuition payments according to the Option chosen on the Enrollment Agreement.
APPLICATION for all SCHYS Programs
graduates of our programs are eligible for:
Foundations for Yoga and Yoga Therapy/Bridge Program graduates are eligible for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) hours, and may enroll in our 300-Hour Yoga Training Program and receive their money-back from the Bridge Program (discounted off their tuition).
300-Hour training program graduates are eligible for RYT500 with the Yoga Alliance and may enroll in Step 2 of our Yoga Therapy Certificate Program.
Our accredited Yoga Therapy Certificate Program graduates are eligible to apply for C-IAYT with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
Our Specialty Certificate Program graduates are eligible for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) credit hours and/or Approved Professional Development (APD) for Continuing Education credit hours with the IAYT.

Inclusive Environment
SCHYS aims to build an inclusive environment for all cultures and all people. We aim for a close sangha (community) that promotes team building and equality in all areas including culture/race/ethnicity, disability, religious or spiritual beliefs, gender (including transgender) and sexual orientation/sexual identity, and generational.
Credit for Previous Education or Training
SCHYS does not accept transfer credit from other training programs.
Calendar and Class Schedule
Before applying for any program, please consult this website for the next start date and location. All SCHYS training programs include weekend trainings (IPPMs), online classes both synchronous and asynchronous, so be sure to consult the website concerning the location and dates of these. SCHYS reserves the right to amend the calendar at any time. Classes cancelled due to weather will be made up at the end of the program or another agreed upon date/time at the discretion of the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director.
Student Records Maintained by SCHYS
SCHYS maintains all student evaluations and grades for three years following graduation. We recommend that all students maintain their own records during the program as a way to protect grades and information stored online. We are aware that technology does have its glitches and therefore require students to have their own records.
